What is microblading?
Microblading is an eyebrow enhancement technique that can last up to 18 months. It is a semi-permanent procedure done to create fuller, more defined brows. Delicate, individual hair-like strokes are drawn to mimic the existing hairs in your brows. A pigment is manually implanted within the skin using a handheld tool. The technique creates a natural look, unlike traditional permanent makeup which may result in brows that look grey and artificial. In some cases, we will even remove old cosmetic eyebrow tattoos with laser prior to microblading.
Our specially-trained medical assistant, Tara McKenna, became certified in microblading after her comprehensive 6 week training process while completing over 110 hours of extensive training at the prestigious 3D Brows Academy.
Who benefits from microblading?
- Anyone who wants the convenience of perfect brows every day with no effort
- Anyone who has decreased hair density from age, genetics, illness, or over-plucking or waxing
- Anyone who experiences difficulty drawing in their eyebrows or using a brow powder
How many treatments are required?
The procedure is split into two appointments which are spaced 4-6 weeks apart. The bulk of the tattoo is created during the first visit, which takes between 60 and 90 minutes. The second appointment is for fine-tuning once initial healing is complete and takes approximately 30 to 60 minutes.
Microblading creates a semi-permanent tattoo that requires periodic touch-up over time. Though it may vary somewhat, results usually last between 12 – 24 months before a touch-up is required.
How will my brows look after my appointment?
Immediately after the procedure, the pigment will appear sharp and dark because the pigment is still sitting on top of your skin and has not settled in yet. The color of the pigment will soften gradually over the next few days.
Your eyebrows will go through several phases during the healing cycle. True reflection of healed color can be assessed three to four weeks after treatment. Touch-ups and correction of the design is recommended at least four weeks after initial treatment. Your brows will go from too dark, to too light, to just right!
How are microbladed brows personalized?
Each client is evaluated based on several factors including face shape, current brow shape, age, skin tone, hair color, and individual brow shape preference to design the most naturally beautiful microbladed eyebrows.
Most clients report that the procedure is virtually painless with our medical-strength topical numbing technique. For those who are especially sensitive, injectable anesthesia is also available, though is rarely required.
What if I already have traditional permanently tattooed brows I don’t like? Can I still get microblading?
Microblading can be done over the top of some existing tattooed eyebrows, but old brow tattoos can also be removed with our Q-switched laser to create a “clean slate” if necessary.
